Aneo acquires from Marguerite two wind farms in Sweden

In an acquisition valuing the farms in excess of EUR 100m, Norwegian renewable energy company Aneo buys two Swedish wind farms. The investment is Aneo’s first outside Norway.

Luxembourg/Trondheim, 24 January 2023 – Aneo’s overall growth target is 10 to 12 TWh of wind power by 2030. Sweden is one of the most important regions for the growth strategy. “The acquisition of Grimsås and Brännliden wind farms is an important first step towards establishing Aneo as a fully integrated wind power player in Sweden,” said EVP Growth Renewable Energy in Aneo, Kari Skeidsvoll Moe.

Power to 18.000 Swedish households
Through power production, energy optimisation and electrification, Aneo contributes to profitable energy transition for its customers, owners and society. “Aneo has contributed significantly to the growth of the Norwegian wind power industry and holds the same ambition for our expansion into Sweden. Aneo aims to be an innovative and reliable partner for everyone seeking to contribute to the energy transition in the Nordics,” said Skeidsvoll Moe.

This week Aneo agreed with the investment fund Marguerite on an acquisition valuing the two wind farms in excess of EUR 100m. Annual production of the wind farms is 285 GWh, equal to the consumption of approx. 18.000 Swedish households.

“Marguerite’s objective when entering the Swedish production market in 2018 was to add renewables capacity. We are delighted to have participated in the decarbonisation of the electricity system through the construction and production of those two onshore wind assets,” said Guillaume Rivron, partner at Marguerite.

The Grimsås wind farm is located in Tranemo municipality in the Västergötland region, while the Brännliden windfarm is located outside Storträsk in the Skellefteå municipality in Væsterbotten. The parks comprise a total of 23 wind turbines.

Brännliden wind farm (commissioned 2020) in Skellefteå and Grimsås wind farm (commissioned in 2019) in Tranemo, respectively, have 10 Vestas turbines (V136) and 13 Siemens turbines (SG 3.6-130). The wind farms are located in price areas SE1 and SE3. Each farm has a total installed capacity of between 42 and 47 MW, with a combined production of around 285 GWh. Following this investment, Aneo owns and/or operates a total of 11 wind farms and 225 wind turbines which produce 6,5 TWh, of which 1,3 TWH is derived from Aneo-owned assets.

Aneo aims to invest significantly in wind and solar power in the Nordics to pursue its growth ambition. “Predictable framework conditions are key for our ability to execute our growth strategy.

Thus far, the Swedish government has enabled growth in the wind power industry through sustainable and predictable framework conditions. Trusting this to continue, Sweden is an important prospective market for us,” said Aneo’s CEO, Ståle Gjersvold.
